Tips From Chris // How To Get Your Guests On The Dance Floor!

We've all been to one of those weddings a time or two . . . the music is out of date, there's only a handful of guests on the dance floor, and the mood is sluggish as the evening drags on. Of course this cannot happen at your wedding! The entire timeline of your day is filled with exciting events, there's no reason it shouldn't end with the bride and groom surrounded by their closest family and friends having a good time on the dance floor.
Here are a few pointers on how to get your guests on the dance floor . . .
1. Hire a great DJ + Emcee
This may seem like an obvious pointer, but choosing the right DJ/Emcee truly plays a vital roll in entertaining your guests and ultimately getting them to the dance floor. One of the main reasons you're hiring a professional is because they have mastered their craft. They read the crowd, understand what you and your guests are feeling, and recognize if there needs to be a switch up in genre or tempo. I'm pretty sure I've never seen an iPod do that!
2. Make a copy of your timeline for the DJ + Emcee
Because there are so many important events during your reception and a lot of them revolve around the dance floor, have en extra copy of your timeline just for the DJ/Emcee. They will be the one directing the flow of events and will know when and how to point the focus on each happening.
Something to also note is the order of events. Getting everyone on the dance floor for a couple songs then asking them to sit down for toasts isn't the best to keep the flow going and it confuses the mood.
3. Get on out there!
Your guests may feel awkward and possibly even that they're jumping the gun heading out to the dance floor if the bride & groom haven't yet made it there. When it's time for the dancing to start, lead the way! Your guests are sure to feel more at ease and will be even more excited to boogie alongside you.
